Job Summary:
The Office of Medical Education at the University of Colorado
School of Medicine (CUSOM) is accepting applications for the
position of Assistant Dean of Medical Education, Post-Clerkship
Curriculum, within the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Office
at the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC).
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Medical Education,
Post-Clerkship Curriculum, the Assistant Dean for Medical
Education, Post-Clerkship Curriculum is responsible for
collaborating with SOM faculty, departments, other curriculum
deans, SOM leadership, and staff to design, implement, assess,
manage, enhance, and innovate the post-clerkship curriculum for
medical students, along with related longitudinal curricular
elements and programs which cross all phases of the curriculum.
This includes ensuring the effective distribution and integration
of leadership, curiosity, and commitment throughout the curriculum.
Key responsibilities involve hiring and working with faculty course
directors and working with the staff managers and coordinators,
developing learner assessments and tracking tools, leading or
participating in regular curricular meetings and engaging with
relevant stakeholders, including those at the Fort Collins Branch
campus, assisting with accreditation processes, ensuring
data-driven quality assurance, contribute to budgeting planning,
and overseeing ongoing curriculum updates, innovations, and
dissemination.
Supervision Received: This position reports directly to the
Associate Dean of Medical Education, Post-Clerkship Curriculum
Supervision Exercised: This position supervises the following
faculty Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) roles,
Advanced Science Course (ASC) Directors
Acting Internship
Relevant Longitudinal Curriculum/Program Directors including
Mentored Scholarly Activities, Global Health Track, Research
Track
Key Responsibilities:
Management of Acting Internships & Electives
Oversee faculty Course Directors and work closely with Course
Coordinators and staff leadership to achieve curriculum goals for
Acting Internships & Electives.
Coordinate with Departments, students, and advising offices to
optimize course offerings, scheduling, and individual student
needs.
Lead continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives to evaluate
and enhance the effectiveness of Acting Internships &
Electives.
Management of Advanced Science Courses Curriculum
Oversee Advanced Science Course Directors and collaborate with
coordinators and staff leadership to achieve curriculum goals and
maintain consistency across campuses.
Ensure continuous curriculum improvement through data-driven
evaluation and quality enhancement initiatives.
Management of Relevant Longitudinal Curricula & Programs
Oversee faculty Program Directors and collaborate with coordinators
and staff leadership to manage and integrate Mentored Scholarly
Activities, specialty tracks, and Basecamps while ensuring
continuous quality improvement and participating in budget
oversight.
Committee Leadership and Governance
Lead Post-Clerkship Committee (PCC) meetings, including agenda
setting, documentation, and delegation of tasks.
Participate in key curriculum and leadership committees while
refining assessments, outcomes, policies, and procedures for the
Post-Clerkship phase.
Student Support and Engagement
Support students in the Post-Clerkship phase through orientations,
direct teaching, mentorship, and participate and collaborate on
faculty development for Compass Guides.
Innovations & New Initiatives
Drive curriculum innovation and continuous quality improvement for
the post-clerkship and longitudinal phases, ensuring alignment with
medical education standards, accreditation requirements, and best
practices.
Foster cross-departmental and interprofessional collaborations to
enhance clinical training, specialty advising, student engagement,
and the dissemination of curricular advancements through research
and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of
hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as
Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and
qualifications as indicated below:
Assistant Professor-
Must hold a M.D., D.O degree or equivalent terminal degree
Eligible for a faculty appointment in the CU School of Medicine at
the Assistant Professor rank.
At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare
education, including curriculum development, clinical education, or
program management.
Associate Professor-
Must hold a M.D., D.O degree or equivalent terminal degree
Eligible for a faculty appointment in the CU School of Medicine at
the Associate Professor rank.
At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare
education, including curriculum development, clinical education, or
program management.
Professor-
Must hold a M.D., D.O degree or equivalent terminal degree
Eligible for a faculty appointment in the CU School of Medicine at
the Professor rank.
At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare
education, including curriculum development, clinical education, or
program management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience of the CU School of Medicine and its
curriculum.
Demonstrated experience with both medical student didactic and
clinical curricula.
Leadership experience, including supervising teams, managing
budgets, and collaborating across organizational levels.
Previous experience developing and implementing strategic
initiatives.
Proven experience working with community organizations and
healthcare facilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills,
with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships
across multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of clinical education models and medical
education curricula.
Ability to cultivate relationships with people who enjoy teaching,
who can inspire students and support the educational process and

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has
been established as HIRING RANGE:
Assistant Professor: $37,500 - $100,000, representing an estimated
0.3- 0.4 FTE salary support plus benefits. The final offer will be
capped at $250,000 annually and will depend on the individual's
current 1.0 FTE salary.
Associate Professor: $37,500 - $100,000, representing an estimated
0.3- 0.4 FTE salary support plus benefits. The final offer will be
capped at $250,000 annually and will depend on the individual's
current 1.0 FTE salary.
