BUILDING SUBSTITUTE TEACHER SUPERVISED BY: Principal SUPERVISES:
NIA SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS: To perform
this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required of

the approved Summit School District curriculum based on lesson
plans provided by the regular classroom teacher. D Perform all
responsibilities of the regular classroom teachers for students in
the absence of the regular teacher. D Implement the regular
teacher’s assigned responsibilities, plans and schedule. D Assess
student work when appropriate and time permits AsN Promote and
maintain student behavior expectations conducive to learning, and
maximize learning time. D Prepare a summary report of work
completed and the day’s events for the regular teacher. D Establish
and demonstrate positive human relations with students, other staff
members and the community. D Ensure the accuracy, completeness,
confidentiality and security of all student information D Comply
with District and school lpolicies and procedures including meeting
with assigned students at scheduled location and time. D
Demonstrates the commitment to build and maintain a safe, fair and
respectful working and learning environment that honors the
cultural diversity of students and staff. D Utilize the Red Rover
system to accept/decline/manager his/her work and schedule in the
capacity of a substitute teacher. AsN Perform other duties as
assigned. D CONTACTS: Students, administration, vendors, teachers,
school resource officer, staff & parents QUALIFICATIONS: High
school diploma or equivalent Hold a valid teaching license or
substitute authorization issued by the State of Colorado PREFERRED
EXPERIENCE: Experience with PowerSchool and Google Workspace
“Highly Qualified” according to the Colorado Department of
Education’s definition of a “highly Qualified” teacher under the No
Child Left Behind Act Effective communication and interpersonal
skills Effective time management and organizational skills PHYSICAL
