Job Description Job Description Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator with a strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of related mathematics and workplace regulations. They should be able to interpret drawings, develop a logical sequence of operations, and layout or mark steel for various processes, including cutting, burning, sawing, shearing, punching, rolling, bending, and straightening. This role may also involve related activities at customer job sites. Responsibilities Interpret drawings and develop logical sequences of operations. Layout and mark steel for cutting, burning, sawing, shearing, punching, rolling, bending, and straightening. Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates, which may include activities at a customer job site. Operate and maintain lathes, milling machines, brake presses, shears, iron workers, metal cutting saws, grinding tools, and various hand fabrication tools. Essential Skills Mig Welding Blueprint reading Fabrication experience Thorough knowledge and operating experience with lathes, milling machines, brake presses, shears, iron workers, metal cutting saws, grinding tools, and various hand fabrication tools Ability to understand and work from engineering drawings, rough sketches, manuals, or verbal instruction of a technical nature Good interpersonal and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and be self-starting Ability to lift up to 40 lbs Good oral and written communication skills Basic computer skills Ability to perform repetitive work Capability to stand or sit for extended periods Adherence to safety protocols to ensure personal and team safety 4-7 years of related experience in a machine shop and metal fabrication environment Additional Skills & Qualifications Special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments Experience with Flux core welding Production experience Fitting, Grinding, and Assembly skills Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a metal fabrication environment focused on making dock equipment. The position operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
