Safety & Security Manager will own and scale Barkbus’ safety,
security, and risk mitigation programs across our nationwide mobile
grooming fleet and physical hubs. This role is both strategic and
hands-on. You’ll design, implement, and continuously improve
programs that protect our Groomers, customers, vehicles, and
facilities while enabling the company to scale safely and
efficiently. Reporting to the Senior Director of Fleet & Hub
Operations, this role is ideal for a proactive, data-driven safety
leader who thrives in fast-paced, operationally complex
environments and can balance policy rigor with practical execution
in the field. Role & Responsibilities Safety Strategy & Program
Ownership Own Barkbus’ end-to-end safety and security strategy
across fleet operations, hubs, and non-grooming workplaces. Build
scalable safety frameworks, policies, and procedures that support
rapid growth. Establish safety KPIs and infrastructure to track
performance, trends, and continuous improvement. Report regularly
on safety performance, risks, and recommendations to senior
leadership. Driver Safety & Fleet Risk Management Develop,
implement, and manage a comprehensive driver safety program focused
on reducing preventable incidents. Monitor Motor Vehicle Records
(MVRs) and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory
requirements. Partner with managers to address violations, unsafe
driving patterns, and corrective actions. Leverage telematics and
driver behavior data to identify risks and improvement
opportunities. Coaching, Training & Behavior Change Design and
manage coaching programs to support drivers and employees who
require additional training or behavior correction. Partner with
Operations and People teams to deliver effective safety training
and reinforcement. Track coaching outcomes and behavior
improvements over time. Incident Investigation & Risk Mitigation
Lead investigations for fleet, hub, and workplace accidents,
incidents, and near-misses. Conduct root cause analysis and
recommend corrective actions, policy updates, or training
enhancements. Track incident severity, frequency, and cost data to
inform insurance, liability, and prevention strategies. Safety
Communication & Culture Drive a strong culture of safety across the
organization through clear communication and engagement. Develop
and distribute regular safety communications, including updates,
insights, and best practices. Partner cross-functionally to embed
safety into daily operations and decision-making. Hub Security &
Emergency Preparedness Develop and implement security standards for
all Barkbus hubs and physical locations. Oversee security systems
including cameras, alarms, lighting, and access controls.
Investigate security incidents such as break-ins, trespassing, or
property damage. Create and maintain emergency response plans and
evacuation procedures. Regulatory Compliance & Audits Maintain
strong working knowledge of OSHA and applicable local, state, and
federal safety regulations. Lead workplace safety audits and ensure
ongoing compliance. Proactively identify regulatory risks and
recommend mitigation strategies. Success Metrics Success in this
role is measured by creating a consistently safe operating
environment while reducing risk as Barkbus scales. Key indicators
include: Reduction in preventable accidents and incidents
Improvement in driver safety scores and behaviors Decrease in
groomer injury rates High compliance with DVIR and safety reporting
requirements Cost savings through proactive safety and risk
mitigation initiatives Qualifications & Experience 5 years of
safety management experience, ideally in fleet, transportation,
logistics, or mobile service environments Proven experience
supporting safety programs in a multi-site, distributed, or
multi-location operating environment OSHA 10 Certification strongly
preferred Demonstrated ability to design and lead driver safety,
coaching, and employee training programs Hands-on experience
investigating incidents and accidents, conducting root cause
analysis, and implementing corrective actions Strong working
knowledge of fleet and workplace safety best practices, including
MVR monitoring and telematics Data-driven operator with experience
using safety metrics to drive measurable risk reduction Ability to
operate cross-functionally and communicate clearly with frontline
teams and senior leaders Compensation & Benefits $90k - 100k salary
