Job Description:
Description Responsible for providing industrial hygiene and
safety support to employees, stakeholders and other assigned
personnel. Anticipates, recognizes, evaluates, and assists with the
prevention and control of workplace Safety and Occupational Health
(S&OH) hazards. Includes designing, developing, implementing
and monitoring the effectiveness of S&OH industrial hygiene
programs and hazard controls. Note : There is one position
available, and this position will be filled at one of four job
grade levels: Industrial Hygienist I, job grade 5; Industrial
Hygienist II, job grade 7; Industrial Hygienist III, job grade 8 or
Senior Industrial Hygienist, job grade 10. This decision will be
based on the qualifications and experience of the selected
candidate and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Range: $109,000-$139,000 Industrial Hygienist III Hiring Salary
Range: $88,000-$111,000 Industrial Hygienist II Hiring Salary
Range: $80,000-$99,000 Industrial Hygienist I Hiring Salary Range:
$64,000-$79,000 Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary
outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work
experience, education and/or skill level. Responsibilities •
Anticipate, recognize, and evaluate workplace Safety and
Occupational Health (S&OH) hazards. • Develop, implement, and
monitor industrial hygiene and safety programs. • Conduct
qualitative exposure assessments, including basic characterization,
identification of similar exposure groups, and development of
sampling plans. • Perform exposure assessments including airborne
(particulate, gases, vapors) contaminant and noise monitoring,
indoor air quality studies and mold/moisture studies. • Interpret
exposure monitoring results and develop appropriate recommendations
to control exposures. • Evaluate industrial exhaust and ventilation
systems. • Collaborate with stakeholders to design, develop,
implement, and monitor the effectiveness of S&OH hazard
controls. • Asbestos program management including inspection and
project oversight and permitting. • Hazard Communication program
management, including administration of the chemical management
Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system. • Participate in or conduct
industrial hygiene and safety audits, inspections and evaluations.
• Develop and conduct H&S training courses. • Plan, schedule,
conduct and coordinate detailed H&S technical work as part of a
major project or in a total project of complex scope. • Serve as
company resource for chemical hazards and safety. • Provide
industrial hygiene and safety assistance to field locations and
Corporate Safety staff. • Prepare industrial hygiene and safety
related reports. • Manage industrial hygiene related medical
surveillance programs such as hearing conservation, respirator
medical qualification, silica, hexavalent chromium, lead and
asbestos. • Operate, maintain, track, and store industrial hygiene
and safety equipment, instruments, materials, and supplies. •
Investigate accident near-misses or incidents and develop
corrective actions and, identify and document “lessons learned.” •
Participate in meetings with management, employees, safety
committees, and/or work crews. • Responsible for maintaining
required records accurately and participating in additional
activities to successfully accomplish duties. • Adhere to and
demonstrate compliance with appropriate electric utility industry
regulatory requirements. Attain knowledge and remain knowledgeable
of development in regulations, laws, standards and best practices
applicable to the functional area including, but not limited to,
Standards of Conduct, Environmental, Employment Law, NERC
Reliability Standards and Safety. Must be familiar with, and comply
with, all aspects of Corporate Policy C-54, Compliance. •

essential function of the job. OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES •
Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education
and Training Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety and
Occupational Health, or closely related field or equivalent
combination of education and/or experience. Knowledge, Skills, and
Ability: Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state
and consensus adopted and promulgated safety and occupational
health laws, regulations, standards, and practices. Willingness and
ability to continuously maintain and improve knowledge and skills
through continuing education and participation in professional
organizations and meetings. Skills and abilities needed to design,
facilitate, and coordinate projects and teams. Skills and abilities
in time management, meeting deadlines, ensuring the accuracy and
quality of work, and demonstrated continuous productivity in work
experience. Ability to maintain effective working relationships and
resolve disputes. Basic business skills including effective written
and verbal communication, operation of a personal computer and
related business office applications, budgeting, and problem
solving. Experience: Eight (8) years progressive experience in
industrial hygiene and safety including one (1) year of electrical
utility experience. Note : The above requirements describe the
experience and education qualifications for the Senior Industrial
Hygienist. Those with less experience will be hired at the I, II or
III job grade level. Other: Willingness to travel up to 40 percent
of the time on an annual basis. Possession of a valid driver's
license or ability to obtain. Must be able to demonstrate that
he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the job.
DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
highly desired.
