Summary of Position The Controller works closely with the ownership
and management teams to ensure company-wide financial success. This
is a hands-on role requiring strong communication skills and the
ability to multitask effectively. The Controller oversees payroll,
financial reporting, benefits administration, vendor management,
contracts, compliance, and overall financial operations. This role
ensures proper documentation, financial accuracy, and compliance
with all federal and state requirements. Objectives of the Role •
Provide leadership and guidance to support the organization's
vision and operational plan. • Prepare comprehensive financial
statements—monthly, quarterly, and annually—through accurate
analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. • Process and manage
bi-monthly payroll for 300 multi-state employees with accuracy and
vendor coordination. • Oversee annual open enrollment, including
voluntary benefits, for 300 employees. • Manage all employee
benefits for multi-state staff. • Maintain PTO tracking and updates
for 300 employees. • Manage and process 401(k) sponsorship, audits,
loans, and repayment schedules. • Ensure compliance with all
federal and state taxation requirements, including income,
withholding, unemployment, and business licensing. • Maintain
compliance with banking, CPA, and auditing partners. • Reconcile,
manage, and forecast multiple bank accounts monthly. • Maintain
relationships with legal counsel and support business strategies as
needed. • Manage cash flow, billing, contract documentation, and
compliance for all external business partners. • Oversee accounts
payable operations, including weekly check runs, vendor contracts,
and invoice retention. • Manage company credit cards, receipts, and
supporting documentation. • Guide financial decisions by applying
policies and awareness of current economic conditions. • Support
office environment needs and facilities management as necessary.
Responsibilities • Maintain all formal records for Board of
Directors review. • Manage onboarding documentation (I-9, direct
deposit, employee files). • Oversee termination documentation,
including final checks and file updates. • Manually track and
update PTO in ADP as approved. • Reconcile company benefits,
including voluntary programs, monthly. • Coordinate quarterly
reporting with external CPA and audit teams. • Maintain and update
accounting software and related systems, including reconciliations
and schedules. • Enforce internal safeguards for revenue, costs,
and spending. • Support financial benchmarks, forecasting, and
reporting standards on bi-weekly, monthly, and annual cycles. •
Ensure consistent accounting policies aligned with national and
local regulations. • Develop and enforce internal controls to
protect company assets and optimize workflows. • Lead and support
the accounting team to foster trust, efficiency, and productivity.
• Provide support to ownership as needed. Required Skills &
Qualifications • 10 years of professional accounting experience. •
Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data
analysis. • Knowledge of national and local tax regulations and
compliance. • Experience managing payroll with emphasis on process
optimization. • Demonstrated success in financial project
management. Preferred Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor's degree
in business, accounting, or related field. • 5 years in a senior
accounting or finance management role. • CPA or CA certification.
